Olton v Rugby

Robert Reynolds lost on top board, but might have held for a draw. Andy Cottom had a good win on board 2, but Richard Farndon lost on four. Tom Evans took the game well into the evening looking for a win, but could only draw.

Banbury B v Olton

Richard Reynolds lost on top board and Robert Reynolds drew on two. Andy Cotton lost on board 3 and Warren Archibald lost on four.

Olton v Shirley A

Tayeb Kazemi lost on top board, despite having a material advantage. Richard Reynolds held on for a draw on board 2, while Robert Reynolds won quickly on board 3. Andy Cottom also won on bottom board.

Leamington v Olton

Tayeb Kazemi had a good win on top board. Richard Reynolds sacrified a piece for an attack, but there was never quite enough compensation on two. Robert Reynolds was winning on board 3, but went wrong and lost, while Tom Evans drew on bottom board.

Solihull v Olton

Robert Reynolds took a draw on board 2 and Richard Reynolds also drew on top board. Tom Evans won on board 4 and Roger Threlfall was able to draw on three.

Olton v Shirley B

Tayeb Kazemi had a good win on top board. Richard reynolds on two got through the opening with some good chances. A chance to win material was passed over due to a threat of a mating attack. The position deteriorated as time got short. Robert Reynolds had a safe draw on board 3. Tom Evans' position  looked fine on bottom board, but the game was eventually lost.

Olton v Leamington

tayeb Kazemi lost on top board after the centre collapsed in front of his King. Richard Reynolds on two faced a number of issues, but caused sufficient chaos to earn a draw. Robert Reynolds held the advantage, but got into a difficult ending on board 3, eventually finding the win in a pawn race. Tom Evans on bottom board got into a critical position, which was eventually drawn.

Shirley B v Olton

Richard Reynolds won by default on board 1. Robert Reynolds drew comfortably on board 2. Rory Lynas got into a difficult opening and gave up a pawn to make space. However, the opponent was able to make better use of it, winning the ending with a pawn advantage. Warren Archibald on three had an open game, but left a few holes and these were exploited. Several exchanges and sacrificces resulted in won material for the opponent, who went on to win.

Shirley A v Olton

Rory Lynas won by default on board 4. Andy Cottom won his second game of the week on board 3. Robert Reynolds drew comfortably on board 2, while Richard Reynolds struggled early on on board 1. With a Knight holding the position together on c3, pressure built up, eventually liquidating on d5. This left a void on c3, but the opponent could not make progress on the c or e files. An error allowed the opening of the a file and the game was agreed drawn with some winning chances.

Olton v Banbury B

Andy Cottom went wrong early on Board 4 and lost quickly. Richard Reynolds on two held off attacks on the Queen's side and probed on the opposite flank. A combination of 2 Knights, Bishop and Queen started to open the position up and a pawn was won. However, the Queen was in peril and was exchanged for rook, piece and pawn. The opponents King was displaced and eventually his Queen was trapped by a Rook, so the game was won. Robert Reynolds on board 3 looked to be doing ok, with a slight disadvantage. The ending and time scramble ended in a loss. Tayeb Kazemi on top board got into a King and Pawns ending with most still on the board and the King's side formation proved to be too weak to defend.
